Exciting biblical archaeology in Israel!
Biblical archaeology in Israel is always an exciting adventure into the past! The 2015 Season is now over, and the many finds are in the Hatter Laboratory for archaeology awaiting processing. It was a very exciting Season, especially as we discovered an extremely rare marble slab with an inscription in Hebrew characters in Area B, where we believe the Public Building exists.
Next Season will be even more interesting, so please make sure you book your space as a Volunteer early. Places will be allocated on a first come first served basis. The aerial footage shows a vast site with many unusual and interesting archaeological features, and our Ground Penetrating Radar is saying the same. We have firmly established that there is an ancient harbour at the site, and we can see evidence of many more buildings and roads.
This is the site of one of the miracles of Christ – the Miracle of the Gerasene Demoniac, where Jesus cast demons out of a man and into a herd of pigs. The town that we will excavate may have existed at the time of Christ, and so we are looking forward to some very interesting times ahead!
