Evidence suggesting a public building!
Today we had a very interesting visitor to the site named Joel. He told us that he had participated in the first survey of the site by Mendel Nun in 1989. On his advice, we found what we believe might be a fish pool covered in vegetation, as is just about everything else here! The elderly gentleman searched his memory and finally told us that he thought the public building that we’re looking for might be about 80 metres north east of the fish pool.
After some time spent pushing through the thick bush we found evidence of a collapsed building. At our feet was a stone that matched the early black and white photograph that Mendel Nun gave us 45 years ago. It may be a threshold stone – time will tell!
Happily we can now report that our main objectives: to find the anchorage, the fish pool and the public building, have been met.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
