Our second season at Kursi Beach for volunteers will run from the 30th of October to the 16th of December 2016
Kursi Beach is on the north eastern shore of the Sea of Galilee, opposite Tiberias. It is the probable site of the Miracle of the Gerasene Demoniac.
We plan to open new squares where we can see from aerial photographs and ground penetrating radar, that there are many exciting discoveries waiting to be uncovered.
We will carry on in the area where the inscription was found and we will further uncover the ancient harbor.
We work from Sunday to Thursday, from 7am to 4.00pm, with breaks for breakfast and lunch. After this we eat together, discuss the days’ findings and process the data.
Our volunteers are treated to regular lectures and a tour of nearby sites of interest with commentary by our Dig Leader – Dr Haim Cohen.
Accommodation is in the Ein Gev kibbutz, and volunteers are welcome to spend their weekends there if they wish.
Ordinary volunteers must be fit and able to endure light physical work.
